Press Release

XCMG is establishing a Nordic R&D Center in Stockholm in partnership with Elvate—strengthening its commitment to electrification, innovation, and customer support in the Nordic region.

Stockholm, Sweden – June 16, 2026

Global machinery manufacturer XCMG, the world’s third-largest manufacturer of construction equipment and one of the world’s leading players in electrified construction equipment, is now taking the next major step in its Nordic expansion. Together with Elvate, XCMG is establishing the XCMG R&D Nordic Center in Stockholm in June.

This initiative means that Stockholm will become the hub for XCMG's research, development, and technical support in the Nordic region, with a focus on the markets in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland.

The new center will support product development, customization, and technical support in the following segments:

  • Excavators

  • Wheel loader

  • Road & Construction Machinery

  • Mining Equipment

As part of this expansion, XCMG will station specialized personnel directly in the Nordic region, including electrical engineers, hydraulic engineers, and software engineers who will work continuously with customers, dealers, and development teams to ensure that the machines are optimized for Nordic conditions. The Country Manager and Product Managers are already based at Elvate’s offices in Stockholm, and with this initiative, XCMG will be represented by 8–10 employees on a permanent basis.

The Nordic region is becoming a strategic growth market

In recent years, the Nordic countries have taken a leading role in the electrification of the construction and civil engineering industries. With the establishment of the XCMG R&D Nordic Center, the region gains direct access to XCMG’s global development organization.

Our goal is to develop the machines of the future in collaboration with customers who have the highest standards for sustainability, reliability, productivity, and innovation.

“The Nordic region is currently one of the world’s most advanced markets when it comes to the electrification of construction equipment. By establishing our Nordic R&D Center in Stockholm, we’ll be closer to our customers and able to develop solutions that meet market needs more quickly. Our ambition is not only to be the largest supplier of electric construction equipment, but also to lead the global development of the electric machines of the future.”

- Mark Li, Country Manager for the Nordic Region, XCMG

Large Nordic spare parts center to be established in Stockholm

As part of the investment, XCMG will also establish a comprehensive Nordic spare parts warehouse in collaboration with Elvate. The spare parts center will ensure high availability and faster deliveries to customers throughout the Nordic region, further strengthening XCMG’s aftermarket and service organization in the region.

The local inventory will include both strategic wear parts and critical components for electric machines, including battery systems, electric powertrains, hydraulic components, and control systems.

Joint Initiative with Elvate

In recent years, Elvate has established a strong position as a specialist in electric construction machinery in the Nordic region and, together with XCMG, has participated in the development and testing of several machine models adapted to Nordic climates and operating conditions.

The establishment of the XCMG R&D Nordic Center is a natural next step in the strategic partnership between the companies.

“We are very proud that XCMG has chosen to locate its Nordic development center here with us in Stockholm. This is clear evidence of the strong partnership that has been built between our organizations and of the importance of the Nordic market for the electrified construction equipment of the future. With engineers, spare parts, and development resources on site, we will be able to provide our customers with a whole new level of support, service, and product development.”

-Martin Lindén, Country Manager, Elvate

A Long-Term Investment in the Construction Industry of the Future

This investment marks the beginning of a long-term initiative in which the Nordic region will serve as a global reference area for the development of electric construction machinery. Through their proximity to customers, contractors, mining companies, and infrastructure projects, XCMG and Elvate will jointly create a platform for innovation, testing, and further development of next-generation machinery.

With the establishment of the XCMG R&D Nordic Center, XCMG is solidifying its position as one of the world’s leading innovators in electrified construction technology while strengthening its commitment to the Nordic market.
