AF Gruppen is investing in the Nordic region's first 42-metric-ton electric crawler excavator from XCMG and Elvate

AF Gruppen is taking another step toward the electrification of heavy construction equipment with its investment in an XCMG XE380-EV from Elvate. The all-electric crawler excavator weighs 42.4 metric tons and is designed for demanding construction and civil engineering work.

AF Gruppen is one of Norway’s leading construction and industrial groups, with operations in areas such as civil engineering, construction, energy, and the environment. This investment demonstrates how electric construction machinery is now gaining a foothold even in the heavier machinery classes.

800 kWh battery for a productive workday

The XCMG XE380-EV is equipped with an 800 kWh CATL battery and a motor output of 300 kW. The machine is designed for heavy-duty operations with an estimated operating time of 6–8 hours, depending on workload and conditions.

An electric powertrain combines high performance with zero local emissions and lower noise levels without compromising the capacity required for heavy-duty construction projects.

Major Players Take the Next Step in Electrification

For Elvate, this delivery is yet another clear example of the developments taking place in the field of electric construction equipment. Electrification is no longer limited to smaller machines. With models such as the XCMG XE380-EV, fully electric alternatives are now available even for the heaviest tasks in the construction and civil engineering sectors.

We at Elvate would like to thank AF Gruppen for their trust and look forward to a long-term partnership.

Together with XCMG, we continue to make electric construction equipment available for some of the most demanding projects in the Nordic region.
